East of Borneo is envisioned as a collaborative site that invites a community of readers, writers, and registered users to participate in an expansive, multi-perspectived investigation of contemporary art. In order for this to work in a positive and productive way, we ask that you respect the following guidelines:
Commerical Use / Self Promotion: East of Borneo is intended for non-commercial use. You may not sell or promote any products, services or events through the site, including but not limited to your own artwork and exhibitions.
Copyright: Users should be careful when uploading or otherwise using copyrighted content without the permission of those who created it. It is our policy to respond to notices of alleged infringement that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"). Using copyrighted material does not constitute infringement in all cases, but we ask that you exercise caution here.
Hate Speech, Defamation, and Libel: We will not tolerate the harassment, abuse, impersonation, or intimidation of others. Keep it positive, please. If we receive a valid complaint about your conduct, we’ll send you a warning or terminate your account. If we have reason to believe that a particular statement or uploaded item is unlawful, defamatory or fraudulent, we reserve the right to remove it.
Identity Theft and Privacy Violations: Users that misleadingly appropriate the identity of another person are not permitted. Users may not post other people's personally identifying or confidential information, including but not limited to credit card numbers, Social Security Numbers, and driver's and other license numbers. You may not post information such as other people's passwords, usernames, phone numbers, addresses and e-mail addresses unless already publicly accessible on the Web.
Illegal / Prohibited Content: Do not use East of Borneo for illegal purposes.
Malware/Phishing: You may not publish or link to malicious content intended to damage or disrupt another user’s browser or computer or to compromise a user’s privacy.
Redundant Content: East of Borneo is not an all-purpose content aggregator or blog. Users who import or aggregate content in a way that is disruptive or irrelevant to the editorial mission of the website are likely to have their accounts terminated.
Serial Accounts and Automation: You may not create serial accounts for disruptive or abusive purposes. Accounts that are registered automatically or systematically will be removed.
Spam and Abuse: We do not want registered users or readers to be subjected to spam and abuse. Do not publish disruptive or irrelevant content, use deceptive means to generate revenue or traffic, or engage in any user account activity with the primary purpose of affiliate marketing.
