editorial assistant
Join us this summer as an Editorial Assistant at East of Borneo, an online contemporary art magazine and book imprint based at the California Institute of the Arts. You'll be an essential part of our small, friendly team and gain valuable training in the editorial and technological processes of online publishing, as well as hands-on experience with events, marketing initiatives and book distribution. The ideal candidate is motivated, organized, and tech-savvy, with a strong interest in learning about contemporary art, publishing, and nonprofit arts administration.

This is a full-time position for a period of ten weeks (June - August 2012) that pays a stipend of $3500. Please see below for full details and eligibility requirements. The application deadline is April 25, 2012.


desired skills:

  • Self-motivated, organized and attentive to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Experience and comfort with digital and social platforms
  • Some familiarity with Adobe CS5 (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), basic HTML, Microsoft Word and Excel is helpful, but not required.

  • eligibility requirements:
    This internship is offered through the Getty Multicultural Undergraduate Internship Program and applicants must meet the program's eligibility requirements in order to participate. 1) s/he must be a currently enrolled undergraduate and have completed at least one semester of college by June 2012. 2) s/he must be a resident of or attend college in Los Angeles County. Internships are intended for members of groups underrepresented in professions related to museums and the visual arts: individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent.
